Section One: The Role of Community Family Physicians in Disaster Planning and Response (10 Minutes)

As illustrated during the COVID-19 pandemic and other recent global health emergencies, family physicians and primary care providers play a key role in supporting communities before, during and after a disaster occurs. In this section we will review the components of the disaster management cycle and explore the ways that you, as a family physician/primary care provider can contribute to disaster planning in your community.
